We don’t get to say it often enough but, “We told you so!” A mere two months after we told you the open beta was coming out this week, it’s finally here. Follow our in-depth discussion on the topic, a look at DDoS countermeasures, an interview with the site creator of tradefortress and some slightly disturbed images of a Pyro doing unspeakable things to his weapon of choice. Make sure you stop off at the fan page to get KritKast added to your profile before joining us on our beta server.

just saying getting your binds in tf2beta is really easy, all you need to do is open steamapps and go to team fortress 2 then tf, right click on cfg (or individual files if you want) go back and look for team fortress 2 beta, tf and then cfg right click and paste, merge the folders, replace the files and it’s all done!

Good show. Interesting stuff about the anti TF2 e-Sport conspiracy. I never doubted you about the beta. Honest.

the better fps is a DIRECT result of many items being missing from the beta. several hats and weapons LACK level of detail (R_LOD) settings. this makes those weapons rendered with full polygon count AT ALL TIMES rather than degrading detail over a distance. many of the polycount weapons do not have it too.

The reason people are saying that they are getting better FPS in the Beta is because everyone isn’t running about with hats on that have no LOD on them.
