Episode 47 – Casualties of War
Posted on: Jan 8th 2010 by Agro
With both B00bies and Chronos down for the count, we seek the help of Overlordror to keep the show on track. The Kritzkast website has had a face lift so that gets a mention but our focus rarely strays far from the Soli/Demo updates. Now that the dust has settled we’re able to see just what damage has been done and we offer our singed insights into how to set it all straight again.

One shot kills are much more likely with the bottle because it can crit. Have you ever actually compared the sword to the bottle while using the charge? The sword cannot one hit kill any class unless you hit someone while charging. He cannot kill soldiers and heavies with one sword hit after a charge, and other overhealed classes can resist one hit kills with the charge. The bottle feels more overpowered than the sword to me; you are more powerful at the beginning of rounds and don’t have to rely on getting 3 heads to have over 265 health. You do get more speed with each head up to 4 heads. Once you understand the tradeoffs between the sword & bottle and the targe & stickies, you will clearly see that these are sidegrades. Demomen in competitive play are not going to switch to targe & sword; they’ll stick with stickies because they are way more powerful. I was able to dominate people with stickies when I first played TF2, so all of this talk seems to ignore the fact that stickies are incredibly powerful. Also, the bottle is greatly underestimated on crit servers.
I’ve had medics heal me and uber me while I had the sword equipped. Simply don’t charge if you don’t want to lose uber! I charge when the uber ends.
